I was born in Tarleton, the son of
a local Butcher and one of seven children. I attended
the local Primary School and Hutton Grammar. I then
joined my father’s business and took over the
running of it in 1972. I am married with one son.
I am currently a Governor at the Primary school and
a member of the Parish Council.
In
spite of the cuts from Central Government, the Conservative
District Council, of which I have served for the past
8 years, has managed to keep the increase in Council
Tax down to just 3.36%. My Conservative colleagues
and I are committed to delivering value for money
for what you pay, and keeping the Council Tax down!
With
your other local Conservative Councillors, the Parish
Council and the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate
I have been working toward the link road to the A565
commonly called the “Green Lane Link”.
This would help to alleviate the problem of HGV’s
passing through the village.
Many
of our village roads are becoming increasingly neglected.
I am working on an on-going basis with our Conservative
County Councillor and my other Conservative Ward and
Parish Councillors to pressure the County Council
to provide decent roads in this area not patch ups!
I
also believe it is necessary to maintain village life
and prevent Tarleton from becoming just a commuter
area. We need a good mix of young people amongst the
residents who are able to afford to live here. Suitable
sites should be made available to meet this demand
BUT without sacrificing any of the Green Belt.
As
you Conservative Candidate for the District Council
I ask for your support to help me continue working
for you as your District Councillor and vote for me
on 1st May.
Thank
you,
John
