Tarleton Parish Council Elections 2007
Central Ward

A message from NADINE ASHCROFT

Dear Elector,

Please let me introduce myself, I was born and brought up in Tarleton and served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service for 18 years and now work in Local Government. I am currently the Chairman of Tarleton Parish Council. Over the last 10 years, since returning to live permanently in the village, I have been actively involved in:

  • The development of Carr Lane Sports and Resource Centre.
  • Developing a Village Design Statement as part of the Village Plan, as part of a community led initiative.
  • Working with Lancashire Youth and Community Service on Youth Issues.
  • Writing funding bids that has brought in over £400,000 for community initiatives.

I believe that I have been an active member of the Parish Council over the last 4 years, and that given your support I can continue to make a difference.

I am willing to make a commitment to continue to work proactively on YOUR behalf to achieve the BEST resources for our village.

The funding I have helped bring into the village has benefited a wide range of the population, including sports, youths and those unable to access sports facilities, funding for the green gym and the Nifty Fifties.

It is important that the right people represent you locally for Tarleton Parish Council to achieve QUALITY status so we can attract more funding into the village. I feel extremely positive about attracting funding into the village and hope to continue to attract funds working in partnership with sports and community groups.

The cost of ignoring making the right choice of local representation is that IMPROVEMENTS WILL STOP HAPPENNING.

It is important to ensure that all our residents feel part of our community and I will ensure that important issues that affect their quality of life are consulted on and people’s views are listened to and not ignored.

I have been involved in setting some areas for future development, these include

  • Upgrading the Car Park on Church Road
  • Making Carr Lane play area a safer place for young people to enjoy using the equipment
  • Developing a project to landscape the corner of The Cloisters and Church Road.
  • Taking over the lease on Carr Heys wood, allowing local people to be involved in the development and management of this historic wood
  • Identifying funding to widen the use of Carr Lane Sports and Resource Centre to more sections of the community
