One problem is the high volume of
HGV’s and in this respect I have campaigned
with our District Councillors and others for the “GREEN
LANE LINK” to the A565 which would remove most
heavy vehicles from the centres of Hesketh Bank, Banks
and Tarleton and help reduce congestion.
The accommodation of high numbers
of seasonal workers causes another problem. I know
that your Conservative District Councillors are working
closely with residents and employers to produce a
solution – I promise to give them my wholehearted
support.
We need more local buses, properly
integrated school transport and the provision of a
“rover” bus to be based in the area.
Most of our minor roads and indeed
many of our main roads are in a poor state of repair
and I shall work to remedy this.
As a former governor of a local primary
and the High School and a parent of two children who
have been educated locally, I will give the provision
of meaningful education a high priority.
We have lost Police Stations in Banks
and Hesketh Bank and I shall work for a more visible
police presence than we have at the moment. I believe
that petty crime if left unchecked leads to major
crimes. I therefore believe in zero tolerance.
I shall support our District Councillors
in their efforts to improve youth and sports facilities
for our young people.
As a former director of an agricultural
company and owner of a market garden I thoroughly
understand the problems of growers in this area and
I shall do all in my power to assist the industry.
Voluntary and Community Groups provide
personal out of hours care and reach people in need.
I shall campaign to ensure that the County Council
transfers more resources to these groups.
I support the Conservative Party policy
of allowing local councils to have the final word
regarding large-scale developments.
As a local man who was born and has
always lived and worked in the area, I understand
local problems and will make myself available to help
all residents. I have the support of all seven of
our local District Councillors and shall work closely
with them to further the interests of our area.
