Village Hall Library
Hesketh Bank Village Hall Library

The library is housed in the original village hall building that was opened in 1964.
By 1996, the hall had fallen into disrepair and in order to keep the building open it was decided to open a library for the villagers.

Money was raised from grants obtained from West Lancashire District Council, the Carnegie Trust UK and the Lotteries Board Small Grants Scheme. Following a canvas of the village, over 2000 books were donated by the villagers.

Inside the Village Library

A small band of volunteers helped with the renovation and the library was finally opened on April 1st 2000 by South Ribble MP Mr. David Borrow and the Hesketh Bank Millennium Queen Miss Lara Johnson.

There are now over 4000 books on file, covering a wide range of topics. The library is completely self funding and requires an annual membership fee to cover running expenses. A team of volunteers now run the library three half days a week.

Your ongoing gifts of books in good conditions are always gratefully received.
