A
small band of volunteers helped with the renovation and the
library was finally opened on April 1st 2000 by South Ribble
MP Mr. David Borrow and the Hesketh Bank Millennium Queen Miss
Lara Johnson.
There
are now over 4000 books on file, covering a wide range of topics.
The library is completely self funding and requires an annual
membership fee to cover running expenses. A team of volunteers
now run the library three half days a week.
Your
ongoing gifts of books in good conditions are always gratefully
received.
Open
Wednesday 2.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Friday 2.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Saturday 2.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
On
Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, the children from Happy Days
Play and Early Learning come for a story time, read to them
by our lady volunteers. The
library also offers the opportunity to use a computer for school
work and a photocopying service .
Membership
costs
£5.00 for single membership (4 books)
£7.50 for family membership (8 books)
The
library is available for hire at a very reasonable price. Current
users include Hesketh with Becconsall Parish Council, Flower Arranging
Class, A Writer's Circle and a newly formed Painting Group. There
is a kitchen and toilets. Should you wish to use the room, contact
Brian Birkby on 01772 813340.
