| CHALLENGE PAUL 2012.... THe Fendt factory TRACTOR TREK To drive a new 700 Vario from the Fendt Factory in Germany to Derian House Children's Hospice, Chorley on one tank of diesel. For the last three years Paul Taylor has raised money for Derian House in memory of Alice Hannah Foster, the daughter of friends, who sadly died aged 12 at Derian House Children's Hospice in Chorley on New Year's Eve 2007. Derian House offers specialist palliative respite and terminal care for children who may not live to reach adulthood. Support for the children and their families is given with warmth and sebsitivity in a "home from home" environment. Previous challenges involving the very painful chest waxing and a sky dive which raised £5,100 last year. The money raised was used to buy items from the Derian House Wish List; a special 'safe space' bed was bought that protects & zips up, a mobile bed which enabled the bed bound children to be able to go outside, several TV's where purchased & also the mobile sensory unit. ![]() The challenge for 2012 was set by Clarke and Pulman of Burscough: to drive a brand new £175,000 Fendt 700 Vario out of the factory in Marktoberdorf, Germany to Derian House Children's Hospice in Chorley, Lancashire; a journey of 1437km which must be completed on a single tank of diesel.
The Fendt tractor used in the challenge was on display at the Riverside steam rally on the 21st / 22nd April 2012 complete with the stats of the trip: 1080 miles, 36 hours, 510 litres of fuel, 14.1 litres per hour and 10 litres of Red Bull. £11,000 has now been raised from both tractor trek & Alice's "Forget Me Not" event held at Walmer Bridge Village Hall.
